Help setting the DNS records for namesilo

I am unsure what to put to point the new domain I bought with them to my remote server.

I just want to redirect to the IP of ther server to send all webtraffic there.

I know but the IP address of the server but what should I put for hostname field if I want all traffic pointed there? Should I delete ALL others that were there by default, including the _domainconnect one?

I know it is A record I want right but what do I put for hostname? I forgot what I put in the past and the last domain was suspended at netim so I can't check what I put in there for the details which that old domain was the domain pointing to this server.

Do I also have to make a CNAME one as well?

I did a search for this already in search engine but stupid AI slop just talking nonesense and not giving actual x,y,z how to.

What I tried is to put 'www' in the hostname field but that only allows access via 'www.domain.org' and just without 'www' gives blank page and says on the tab name 'Redirecting' and doesn't do anything. So how to make it for root and also any other subdomains, wildcard, I would use? wildcard is ok right? security wise?

Oh I'm confused now, should I change the nameservers or the DNS records on namesilo? if I want the domain to go to my vps? or both?
