do people actually buy digital products?

Been looking at digital products on gumroad and sellvia and there's SO much stuff on there. like ebooks, guides, templates, all that. but who actually buys all this stuff? how do you even know what people want??

also random question, have you guys ever bought a digital product yourself? like a guide or a template or something. what was it?
