Amazon and unverified reviews?

Hi.

I'm just thinking about how Amazon won't do anything to stop fake unverified reviews. I have a product and a competitor keeps sending 1 star reviews and it doesn't look good. I contacted Amazon and they said "Oh they could have bought it elsewhere!" What kinda crap is this? How do people usually fight this?
