I'm new to IM, and am exploring the adult affiliate side of things (among others, but this post concerns that side of it). I have an adult photo blog for a very unique niche (running juicy ads and plug rush), and I have high hopes for it in the future. Now, this niche is larger than just porn, its a whole fandom, which runs conventions. I've been in this fandom for a decade, and recently began going to conventions. One is coming up in less than a month, and I will be going, and I am hoping to possibly use it as an opportunity to spread word of my site and hopefully drive some real traffic to it.
Since rules about business transactions is pretty strict (vendors have to be registered), I'm tempted to try something else - guerrilla marketing. I've seen it used at other conventions in other fandoms before, and it has definitely succeeded in getting people talking. So I'm tempted to try it myself. I am tempted to replicate the method they used, which is a paper strip bomb. Basically I was thinking of making hundreds (if thousands) if strips of paper with the name of my site on it, and literally just leave them everywhere I go. Maybe tape some up in odd-yet-noticable places, etc.
Has anyone else ever tried guerrilla marketing? And if so, if you are willing to share, what tips do you have?
