For advanced and professional level editing you need to keep learning, no fixed time frame but you'd definitely need 1+ year of consistent on the job learning to become an expert.

As a video editor myself, it took me about a month to learn the basics. Then in order for me to become advanced, I had to keep working on different projects, and whenever I come across something I'd want to learn. I'd search youtube in order to learn how to do it then I would use what I learn in my videos. Do this for a year consistently and you will get to the advanced level in video editing.
