How secure is signal for messaging and sending information?(Serious Question)

I understand telegram is compromised, but how secure is signal? can authorities gain access to messages?

signal is end-to-end encrypted. but if the authorities want any information they will first crack your phone rather than signal. but again it is secure, however government can get the data they need.
