Despite Tumblr losing much of it's popularity over the years, there is still a good amount of money to be made there. Last April alone Tumblr had over 284,000,000 visits.
Today I'm gonna teach YOU how to monetize those visits and grow your own Tumblr blog from zero. LET'S GO!
-> Step 1: Decide your niche.
Tumblr is home to many niches, some more popular than others. In particular, anything that resonates with young, western liberals is bound to have a big enough audience to monetize. Tumblr's audience consists mostly of young western adults and teens, so make sure to pick a niche that they will be interested in.
Examples of GOOD niches:
*Memes, Tiktoks, Funny twitter posts, etc.
*LGBT, Asexuality, etc.
*Occult, Witches, Magick, etc.
*Health, Veganism, etc.
Aside from the SFW niches listed above, there are still some NSFW niches that are doing good. Think of things like the foot fetish niche, fat fetish niche, etc.
Examples of BAD niches:
*Politics
*Science, Math, etc.
If you have picked a niche, you should do some research on how much audience there is for it before proceeding. Put in some hashtags related to your niche in the search bar, if there are not alot of posts or there are posts but they all have low notes, then it's not a good niche. More audience = more money to be made.
-> Step 2: Find low competition hashtags in your niche
Now that you have picked a niche, it's time to find some low competition hashtags.
Hashtags are a way for people to find your posts. You need to pick the right ones to be found.
An example: Imagine that you want to start a blog in the funny tweets niche. There are already very many Tumblr blogs who post funny tweets, so the hashtags #twitter, #funny, etc. are all OVERSATURATED. So many people are using those hashtags that it will be impossible for your posts to be found.
An easy solution to the above example would be to make a blog centered around funny facebook posts. The tag #facebook has 19k followers, but not many people are posting in it. Using the Facebook hashtag will allow your posts to be found by Tumblr users. Eventually you will accumulate enough likes and followers for your posts to be found #funny, #memes, #jokes, etc. aswell.
Make sure to get some good hashtags before posting anything. This is what will help you get your blog off the ground.
-> Step 3: Start posting good content.
If you have completed step 1 & 2, you are now ready to start posting content.
This is the most important step, so make sure to spend most of your time on creating good posts. Nobody wants to follow a blog with unengaging images or poorly written posts.
How you create your posts will depend on the niche, but Reddit and Pinterest are always good places to steal content from. Do whatever you need to (as long as it's legal ) to have something interesting to post.
Also make sure NOT to make too many posts per day. Nobody wants to follow a blog that spams their homepage.
Once you have a good method of making posts, you are ready for the next step.
-> Step 4: Monetize your blog.
Okay, you have now picked a niche, made a bunch of posts and gained a good following. It's time for you to monetize your blog.
There are various ways to monetize your blog, which methods are best depends on the niche, but here are some ideas to get you started:
*Share CPA links
*Rent your pinned post
*Sell guest posts
*Advertise somebody else's products
Make sure to find something that works for your niche, be creative about it.
-> Concluding
And that's all there is to it. It's literally THAT simple to get started on Tumblr.
In 2025 there will still be much money to be made, so if you're interested in entering the Tumblr game then get started TODAY!
Hope you guys learned something new, and good luck making money
