I have downloaded a template using HTTrack and hosted that site on a server and after few weeks, the owner of that template contacted me about unauthorized used of template. How they track the usage of the template. When I check console when load the page, it was calling a google link. Is there any way to track like this. Also I want to know what are the actions they can take against me of using that template. Owner is from india

Theres a "signature" code which allows the creator to track unauthorized use of their demo templates.

If both of you is from India, he can take action against you. But then, I'm not sure how India enforce copyright laws

Open Developer Tools and go to the Network tab. Check for any calls that are unfamiliar to you and you'll be able to see from where the calls are being made.

Or just pay the man.
