Reuters discusses a venture within OpenAI called "Strawberry" internally with the goal of delivering a model with advanced capabilities to reason and conduct independent research.

The goal is not for the language model to only answer questions, but also to be able to plan ahead on their own, search the Internet independently and be able to "research in depth" topics. Sources Reuters has been in contact with mention that Strawberry can answer the kind of science and math questions that today's models can't handle
