Should New Members Get Access to Marketplace Earlier?

Currently, new members have to wait and build reputation before accessing certain marketplace sections. Do you think reducing the barrier (like requiring less activity/karma) would help encourage more contributions? Or would it open doors for spam?

Curious what the community thinks.
