Do backlinks from old pages lose value if the page is never updated?

Hi everyone,

I have a question about backlinks from older pages.

Let's say you get a backlink from an article that was published a few years ago. The page is indexed, the site is still alive, and the topic is relevant. But the page itself is never updated, gets no new comments, no new internal links, and basically just sits there.

Do you think this kind of backlink can still pass value for a long time?

Or does Google start to ignore it more over time if the page looks completely inactive?
