Those who sell WP themes and plugins, how do you do it?

I'm obviously not asking for your secret sauce, I just would like to know the general understanding.

Saying you made a couple themes and plugins, listed them on your website and now want to promote it. What's your first go-to method? Do you rely on organic traffic? Or do you run ads on Google / Facebook? Or do you list them on bigger marketplaces like Themeforest? Or you do them all at once?

Just wanna know how this niche market works. Thanks

  • Start with a free version on WP.org and offer a premium version with more features/credits/whatever you're selling. The best way to get exposure and feedback.
  • Themeforest and your own site as well.
  • Contact WP review/related sites and ask them to review your product.

Create a Facebook dedicated to your new product and let them beta-test all features.
Get some exposure by sharing the plugin with WP developers and an audience on X and Discord, and make sure they post a review on their website.
With the launch of Rank Math, they earned over 500+ 5-star reviews by doing this. :p
