Hi everyone,
A couple of months ago, I used the free trial for LinkedIn Recruiter Lite. During the trial, I posted a job and noticed the "Promote Job" option. Out of curiosity, I clicked it, and it promoted the job successfully, sending notifications and working as expected. However, even though it mentioned there would be a charge for the promotion, it didn’t actually charge me.
Here’s why: I had used a card with no funds on it while setting up the trial. When the trial ended a month later, LinkedIn tried to charge the card for both the trial continuation and the job promotion, but the charges failed because the card had no money. Now, I keep getting notifications from LinkedIn asking me to update my payment details to settle the balance, but I have no intention of doing so.
Essentially, I got the job promotion for free.
I wanted to replicate this on a new account, so I found a friend who would volunteer to do this (who has never used LinkedIn Recruiter Lite) to sign up and gave them a card similar to the one I used—no funds on it. However, when we got to the last step of creating a job post and clicked the "Promote Job" option, it didn’t work. It seemed like LinkedIn tried to charge the card immediately this time.
Does anyone know what changed? Is the "free promo" thing no longer possible with LinkedIn Recruiter Lite? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
